Doorways
of Support and Inspiration:
Surrender
and Acceptance/Discovering the Lessons
Say
Yes! to the Universe Susan Jeffers,
Ph.D.
...saying YES to your Universe means letting go of resistance
and letting in the possibilities inherent in any of life's
situations. In the way I am using it, saying NO means being a victim.
It means resisting opportunities for growth...Saying YES... lets
you become the creator of enriching new life experiences... It means
getting up and acting on your belief that you can create
meaning and purpose in whatever life hands you....
I was diagnosed with breast cancer many years ago. It was then that
I learned the profound wisdom in saying YES to the universe. I am
eternally grateful that I was able to tap into the wisdom within
that helped me find the blessing, find the lessons to be learned,
find the strength I never thought I had-and ultimately to find the
triumph.
Because
of the lessons I learned, I can actually say that breast cancer
was one of the most empowering experiences of my life. What did
I learn? I learned that sexuality has nothing to do with a breast!...
I learned that illness often comes from negative emotions, so I
made a concerted effort to deal with all the old anger and pain
I was holding...I learned that a crisis can deepen love-and I married
the beautiful man who never left my side. I learned that we can't
take life for granted, so we better enjoy it while we have it...
Although I received so many blessings from my experience of cancer,
I wouldn't consciously choose cancer as my favorite way of learning
(I'd probably choose a vacation in Italy instead!) But cancer is
what life handed me... I chose to say YES and opened to all
the possibilities instead of saying NO and seeing myself as a helpless
victim.
