Writer's Guidelines for Life Challenges Web Site:
Average Length for Writings: 200-1200 words. If you are inspired to do more (even double or triple the amount), that's fine.
You can choose one of the topics provided in the sections on the Life Challenges Web site or, for "People Tell Their Stories" even add a new one. If you've already got something written, send it on in. There's no need for a formal proposal here (we encourage all stories for submission and all expressions/bursts of creativity) Any form: personal story, article, creative nonfiction, poetry, journal, fiction that deals with a life challenge or something that can help people during their journey through a life challenge is helpful. You can also review a book that deals with life challenges: self-help, philosophy, spirituality, personal story.
Since this is for the Internet, spacing is important to help people read your piece more easily. You can help by adding sub-headings, bullet points, etc. to break up blocks of text. It's easiest for me if you submit it: flush left, single spaced, with no paragraph indentations and a space between paragraphs.
For articles/interviews/personal stories, we may edit your work, if necessary, before we publish it on the site. If you want to see what we've done before it goes up, let us know in advance.
We will give you writing credit for all submissions. Unfortunately, we don't pay for articles at this time. You retain all rights to your work and I am happy to use your personal copyright if you don't think the Life Challenges copyright is enough.
If you are writing a personal story and would rather use only your first name or a pen name, that's fine. Spiritual Teachers/Counselors/Authors/writers, please include what "credentials" or bio information you would like us to list, including a one or two line summary of the work you do. Also, include your name, address, phone number, e-mail address if you'd like.
If possible, please e-mail submitted "manuscripts" to us as an attachment or in the e-mail text. We use Microsoft Word, but if you don't, just send it to us as a text file, so we can convert it. If you mail a submission, please include it on a 3" disk. Our least favorite is the old "paper" way‹-although we do have a scanner. Send writings, questions and queries to Alissa Lukara at:
